Police: Thieves had gun and attempted robbery, shooting
An armed homeowner who shot the robbers when they approached his home Tuesday morning said the gun was used to defend himself and his family.
According to a police statement, the home was just across the street from an apartment complex where the homeowner lives. The home is about 100 yards from his neighborhood in the 9400 block of H.W. Wilson Way, a neighborhood along the banks of the Chicago River, where the robberies took place.
The homeowner, who lives across from the complex, said in the statement that the robbers were shooting a gun into his apartment, and that he had his loaded Glock semi-automatic at the ready.
"What I said to the robbers before they got there was, you know, I don't like to get shot. And then they said, 'Well, we'll keep it,' and I said, 'We can't. The gun's dead.'"
The homeowner said his wife heard a gunshot followed by the burglar yelling that they were breaking into his house. She thought they were joking. Then the burglar dropped his gun.
"My wife said to me, 'We've got to get out of there.'" said the homeowner.
When the homeowner got out of his vehicle, he said the two people chasing him fired into the air. It was unknown whether the homeowner had a second gun in his vehicle.
"If you could have gone through with what you did it's like, we've lost this community," said one woman watching the aftermath unfold. "I don't see how you're going to come back."
"I heard shots, and then two of them started flying at me with a gun," said another woman in the neighborhood. "There were four of them. I went out, and I got down and one of them ran out of his house and was like a ghost," said the second man in the area.
The homeowner said he fired at the guy after he started hitting him with his own car.
"I was like hitting him," said the homeowner.
The homeowner and the two men he was chasing fired back at each other again.
The homeowner said he believed the robber was armed with a knife. He believed it was a handgun because he was hit in the face twice.
"I heard a gun. I thought, 'He might have had a gun,' but I didn't know," said the man. "He could have said, 'You're crazy. We're here for your house.

In a rant filmed by the local Nine Network reporter, a man can be heard yelling "Fuck off, you're dead!" to officers at the scene of the arrest in Mayfair last year. He then yells at them saying they will be sent back to China "and they will be sent back to China to be shot". The footage shows more than 10 protesters throwing objects at officers in riot gear. But it is not known whether the man is actually trying to hit the officers. On Monday, Lord Mayor Graham Quirk took to social media to address the man, saying "all forms of peaceful and peaceful protests were to be expected at the protest that took place last week". "I can tell you with 100 per cent certainty that these people were not here for any political or political action. They were here in the name of peaceful protest," he said. At the scene Anya Lee is the host of ABC News Breakfast, based in Melbourne. Her report from Mayfair, where police charged hundreds with anti-Muslim hate crime on a quiet night last week, was her 20th episode for ABC News Breakfast and third program in a row. She said a group of anti-Muslim protesters gathered on a grassy knoll and then began walking down the road toward the main road. After reaching the junction where a police car was waiting, a group of up to 20 men surrounded the vehicle and began fighting with it. There was an explosion, then several people were injured, Mr Lee said. People are saying they saw someone get hurt and then heard three shots and they looked towards that direction and the first guy that they saw, he just started walking away. Anya Lee, The Nine Network host Then the men got back into their vehicle, jumped out and drove away, she said. "A woman who was standing in the road and the police officers got back into their cars, jumped out and walked away," she told reporters on Monday. "A police car just kept pulling over and the police car was blocked by people walking to get at the vehicles of people outside the road." Police say a truck also got stuck in a large crowd before some of the protesters managed to push it out of the way. They say several hundred people were arrested after the incident at a busy intersection. "They're just going to walk away if they don't like the way the people get on these buses, if they don't like th Link: คลิ๊กที่นี่ |
